According to McKinsey & Company’s recent Global Industrial Robotics Survey, 25% of capital spending will go towards automated systems at many companies over the next five years – with retail and consumer goods set to be the biggest spender amongst the industrial sectors surveyed.
Despite this planned increase in expenditure, the survey found that companies are wary of the implementation challenges they face, with the capital cost of robots and their own lack of experience with automation projects identified as key obstacles.
